The finance department has a strong reputation for its research on investment management and corporate finance.
Financial planning includes retirement projections, figuring out how much to save and setting reasonable spending rates in retirement. Financial mathematics is a main branch of applied mathematics concerned with the financial markets. Financial mathematics is the study of financial data with the tools of mathematics , mainly statistics .
Students can take advantage of several internships that provide both college credit and personal experience in the finance area. Students are responsible to the fiduciary and ethical standards of professional money management as guided by the CFA Institute. This course will allow students to apply the knowledge gained from prerequisite investment courses and their experience in managing a simulated portfolio with UISES to the task of managing real money for real clients.
